"A strong majority of participants endorsed experiences consistent with mindfulness (i.e., feeling “more present in my body”; 99% of the sample) and psychological flow (“I felt like I was ‘in the zone’ or ‘in the flow’ of things”; 93% of the sample) during conscious dance"

Is distance important?

How many footsteps is it?
Not really. Maybe? I envisioned the work as being more about time, but I’m still struggling to define that. Distance has become important in relation to topology, and mapping the space. I know how any footsteps it is.

Ok, I don’t remember. I have it written down. It was in the 100s.

Scales of time.

Like a drive-in cinema?

Delightfully meta.
Sorry. Where were we?

Right. So the next question is: how long should I dance for? I wanted the duration to be out of the ordinary. I’m interested in ritual and the work being an act, action, rather than a performance. Yes, stop interrupting. You’re me, so you know everything I do. You’re just a poetic device!

"A common topic of conversation for David and older residents involves nostalgic recollections of how Footscray ‘used to be’, and David, as a local of 20 years, is able to participate in and instigate these types of conversations and stories, anchoring him more firmly as a ‘resident’."

Vionnet (2020) asserts that the distinction between everyday actions and rituals is not anchored to repetition in time or space, but to attentional investment of the participants.
